Internationally acclaimed chamber choir New Dublin Voices presents The Helsinki Programme, eleven extraordinary pieces which it will then go on to perform at Finland’s elite Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition later in September.
Diversity runs through The Helsinki Programme like electricity through a high-voltage cable. Beautiful and stirring, or shocking or reflective, each setting inspired by powerful texts taken from film-scripts (French classic Hiroshima mon amour), or Shakespeare (The Tempest), or nursery rhymes or the Bible. These are all words that fired the imaginations of brilliant composers from across six centuries. (See full programme below).
The Dublin concert features the world premiere of music by one of the world’s leading composers, Lithuanian Vytautas Miškinis, a work commissioned by New Dublin Voices made possible through the Arts Council Music Commissions Award. “The same stream of life” is an evocative setting of words by the great
Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore.
Join us on the 11th for a wonderful evening of music!
